Timeless Boston Public Library Wedding

Wedding party portrait for summer wedding at the Boston Public Library

I am so excited to share photos from Brittany and Marco’s incredible wedding at The Boston Public Library! Brittany and Marco have been together for a decade, so they were thrilled and ready to celebrate their love story at this iconic Boston wedding venue!

Boston Summer Wedding

We started the day by capturing getting-ready photos at the Fairmont Copley Plaza with Brittany and her bridesmaids, while Marco got ready at the nearby Westin Copley Place with his groomsmen. As the ladies finished getting their hair and makeup done and popping champagne, I captured the elegant and delicate details of the day. Brittany selected a very classic and timeless color scheme with white and gold and touches of light pink – perfect for a summer city wedding!

Once everyone was ready, Brittany and Marco shared their first look outside of the Fairmont Copley Plaza. We took portraits around the hotel and made sure to go inside the infamous Fairmont hallway that’s a popular photo op! We then made our way across the street to the Boston Public Library for all of their pre-ceremony portraits.

One of the best things about the library is all of the incredible spaces to take photos! From various angles of the lobby staircase to the courtyard balcony to the library itself – there is so much variety. The florals and candles by the team at Ninety-Two Design Co. truly elevated the historical library staircase and courtyard. It added even more elegance to the natural beauty of the space and the portraits we captured!

Boston Public Library Wedding Ceremony and Reception

Brittany and Marco were set on having the ceremony in the courtyard and only wanted to move indoors if the rain became too heavy. The forecast kept us on our toes all day, but we lucked out! Just before the start of the ceremony, it began to sprinkle, so umbrellas were placed so Brittany and Marco could stay dry and we could proceed with an outdoor ceremony in front of the gorgeous arbor and fountain.

With some thunder rumbling in the distance and dark clouds all above us, the rain held off throughout the ceremony and they were officially married! As Brittany and Marco exited their ceremony, they kissed midway down the aisle and it was *immediately* followed by a huge clap of thunder from above! The timing of their kiss couldn’t have been a more serendipitous finale to their thunderstorm courtyard ceremony!

Everyone moved indoors for an elegant reception that took place in the Guastavino Room of the library. With the help of Boston Event Lighting, the natural ambiance of the space photographed beautifully! I loved having access to all of the balconies surrounding the reception space to be able to capture so many unique angles of the room. The reception began with a lively first dance, followed by toasts and dinner. Brittany’s party dress change made a fun statement as the celebrations continued into the night!
