As residents of Back Bay, getting married at The Newbury Boston was Kayla and Patrick’s own way of having the city-chic version of a backyard wedding. There is an incredibly loving and joyful chemistry between Kayla and Patrick, and everyone could feel that throughout the entire day. Different from so many other Boston city weddings, Kayla really leaned into the summer color palette with her bright pink and baby blue floral design from Table & Tulip. I absolutely loved this, and felt like that design decision complemented the joyful summer event that it was!
Floral-Filled Boston Back Bay Wedding
Kayla and Patrick have known each other since high school but didn’t start officially dating until the summer before their sophomore year of college. It was an incredibly exciting day for them to become husband and wife on their 9-year anniversary!
After starting the day by taking some fun getting-ready photos with their wedding parties, we headed outside to Commonwealth Avenue for their heartfelt first look. We walked along the charming city streets of Boston to capture some initial portraits of just the two of them in their favorite Back Bay neighborhood spots.
Next, we headed to the Boston Public Garden with their wedding party for portraits. We used one of my favorite corners of the park for these portraits! It has lots of greenery with sunlight shining through with a glimpse of Back Bay’s brownstones in the background. The pathway behind them is a natural reflector that helps bring out their natural skin tones. Before returning to The Newbury for their ceremony, Patrick, Kayla, and the photo team went across the garden to capture some final portraits. We were able to capture portraits in some of the quintessential locations of the Public Garden, as well as a few other settings that showcase the city garden setting without the many herds of wandering people behind them!
Sophisticated Summer Wedding at The Newbury Boston
Back at The Newbury, Table & Tulip had created a few installations that welcomed guests to the hotel and set the scene perfectly for Kayla and Patrick’s ballroom ceremony. The two exchanged their vows and then celebrated all the way back down the aisle! Kayla and Patrick joined their cocktail hour which was filled with cheers and lots of catching up with their guests. Thanks to their first look and plenty of pre-ceremony portrait time they were able to relax and mingle with family and friends!

Soon enough, it was time for the Back Bay wedding reception to begin. The florists and team at The Newbury transformed the ceremony ballroom into a chic reception for the evening’s festivities! Tall centerpieces with a bright summer color palette lined the walls of the room. They repurposed the ceremony arch centered and added a trendy neon sign. Right from the start, the reception energy was high! From energetic first dances and toasts to their cake-cutting and parent dances, the energy continued to build right into an epic dance party!
