Lisa and Zach weren’t always going to get married at Sugarloaf Mountain. They were originally set to be married at another venue . . . but as many stories go, a conflict arose (in this case, the original venue went up for auction unexpectedly!). Talk about wedding nightmares! I worked with Lisa and Zach through the entire process, and in hindsight, I think this was a perfect lesson in “what is meant to be, will be” — a wedding at Sugarloaf Mountain in Maine couldn’t have been more perfect for the two of them.
It all began for Lisa and Zach at their local rock climbing gym. They met and it wasn’t long before they went on their official first date, and everything clicked from there! Fast forward to, what I’m told was, an absolutely freezing December day in Burlington, VT — it had been a long day of skiing and Zach insisted on checking for a sunset out on Lake Champlain (to Lisa’s dismay). Once out on the lake, Zach told Lisa he wanted to get a photo of her by the lake — she turned around, and to her total shock, found Zach down on one knee.
The wedding day itself couldn’t have been more perfect. There was beautiful weather at Sugarloaf, their closest family and friends all made the trip up to be there with them, and I don’t know of a single hiccup in scheduling. Lisa and Zach, although unsure at first, decided to do a First Look. They had a lot of people traveling to Sugarloaf for them and knew they needed their cocktail hour time to make the most of the little time they had with everyone. Logistics sometimes play a part in this decision, but there are also a lot of nerves and emotions to consider too. I’m not sure how many times I overheard them say “I’m so glad we did that” for that very reason, following their First Look.
Lisa and Zach’s wedding advice to other couples:
You’re going to get mired in the details and logistics (and there will inevitably be hiccups and stress), but be sure to take time to STOP planning for a bit. It’s so important to take that time to regroup with your partner so that you don’t lose sight of WHY you’re doing all of this planning!
Cheers to Lisa and Zach — thank you so much for having me along to capture this incredible day!!
