Madeleine and Alexander’s wedding at The Newbury in Boston was incredibly elegant and sophisticated. I first met Madeleine and Alexander in Laguna, CA when I captured their engagement photos. They are the sweetest and most down-to-earth couple! Their love story began when they met at Boston College. So it was only fitting they came back to the east coast to the city where it all began for their wedding!
Joyful Boston Summer Wedding
When I arrived at The Newbury on their wedding morning, everyone was relaxed and happy! There was an excited energy among everyone in the wedding party. Madeleine is a planner, so we worked closely together to meticulously plan and coordinate all aspects of the day. There were several logistics involved including multiple locations and transportation, but with all of the photo preparation and planning done before the day, everything went smoothly!
Madeleine and Alexander have a very classic, timeless style to them. Their city wedding at The Newbury felt like an extension of that sophistication. Alexander dressed in a tuxedo, while Madeleine selected a classic A-line gown with a bow embellishment on the back. She complemented the look with a double strand of Mikimoto pearls, matching drop earrings that belonged to her grandmother, and an all-white bouquet from Floristika. Excitement reached a high when Madeleine put on her final touches — there were no dry eyes amongst the group!
Boston College Wedding Ceremony
Due to the August heat, Madeleine and Alexander made a last-minute decision to share their first look inside The Newbury. They shared heartfelt notes with one another before the rest of the group joined us for some indoor portraits.
Since many of their family and friends are Boston College alumni, it only felt fitting to ride back to the campus in a BC bus. Our time at BC was one of the highlights of the day. Between bringing a big group of alumni friends back to campus together and the ceremony at Saint Ignatius on campus, you could feel how much the campus meant to the entire group!
Saint Ignatius is grand and beautiful all on its own! There are some strict guidelines as to where we’re able to photograph, but I’ve actually come to love the different perspectives that I’ve found within those parameters. Nothing quite beats the view from the second floor, as Madeleine walked in with her dad and eventually walked out Alexander. There was so much excitement when Madeleine and Alexander exited the church together as husband and wife!
The Newbury Boston Wedding Reception
With all of their portraits done pre-ceremony, everyone headed to the cocktail hour and reception at The Newbury. Madeleine selected this venue because of its European, elegant touches. She really appreciates the thought that goes into the small luxurious details that give a transformative feel. She particularly loved the cocktail hour area with the couches overlooking Comm Ave and the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Floral centerpieces from Floristika incorporated the white and green color tones already within the ballroom at The Newbury. Madeleine and Alexander shared their first dance before being seated for toasts and dinner. Alexander’s family is from Puerto Rico so his dance with his mother was a Latin song. Following their parent dances, the band kicked off for a night of great dancing and everyone loved the late-night snack from Pinos Pizza, a Boston College Staple! Congratulations to this wonderful couple!
