When one of my couples decided they wanted a Martha’s Vineyard engagement session I was all for it! This island of Martha’s Vineyard is one of my absolute favorite places! I was married there at the Harbor View Hotel! The vineyard is also a meaningful place to them and will soon be where they celebrate their own wedding.
Relaxed Edgartown Summer Engagement Photography
Wanting to incorporate some of the vast scenery available to us on Martha’s Vineyard, we decided to begin our session in historic Edgartown before traveling across the island to Moshup Beach in Aquinnah.
My love for Edgartown is a bit biased because it’s where my own wedding venue is located! Biases aside, Edgartown is an idyllic seaport on Martha’s Vineyard. It’s mostly known for the Edgartown Lighthouse but also has a great restaurant scene, charming homes, and beautiful gardens within its neighborhoods.
We began our session in the neighborhood surrounding the Harbor View Hotel, which happens to overlook the Edgartown Lighthouse. We captured photos walking along the picturesque brick sidewalks, in front of the historical homes, and down the walkway to the beach and lighthouse. We covered a lot of ground during the first half of our session! Before we knew it, it was time to head across the island to capture some of Aquinnah’s beautiful beaches.
Martha’s Vineyard Engagement Session
Moshup Beach, also known as Aquinnah Public Beach, is famous for the clay cliffs that surround the beachfront. Mountainous shades of tan, yellow, orange, and green make up the facade of the Aquinnah Cliffs, making for a unique photo backdrop. We walked the beach and captured them in another favorite MV spot, before officially wrapping up for the day! I love the variety of photos we were able to capture, all with a very “New England Summer” feel.
