A Coastal Maine Wedding in Kennebunkport, Maine
You may remember Beth and Keith from their Tribeca engagement photos! And while it was a longer wait than anticipated to get to their Kennebunkport wedding day (thanks, covid…), this coastal fête was one to remember!
These two may be New Yorkers at heart, but they have a soft spot for Kennebunkport. Keith grew up going to The Colony Hotel, which naturally became a special place to the couple once they started to date. When the time came to begin wedding planning, it was the only place they envisioned for their day!
Working with Taylor at Mulberry & Elm, Beth and Keith’s custom wedding crest carried through from their stationery to their day-of paper goods and decor accents used throughout their day! I loved how all of the items tied in various parts of the day, making a cohesive design and complimenting the flowers and light blue bridesmaids’ dresses.
Favorite Kennebunkport Wedding Moments
My favorite part about this wedding day, was the pure joy! After postponing their wedding a full year, Beth, Keith, and all of their family and friends were beyond ready to celebrate! Keith and his groomsmen gathered in the hotel, just as Beth’s hair and makeup wrapped up and she prepped to get into her dress. Their golden retriever, Finn, made a special appearance to each of them as they prepped for their first look!
Just before heading to the waterfront to meet her groom, Beth’s dad stopped in for a special father-daughter reveal. It was a beyond beautiful moment, filled with happy tears and lots of hugs!
The Colony Hotel is perfectly situated on the Kennebunkport waterfront. Beth and Keith decided to do their first look by the water, before joining the rest of their group at the hotel putting green for their portraits. We worked together before the wedding to create a wedding day timeline that would allow for plenty of time for the group to enjoy the day without rushing along the photo time. As a result, the portraits were relaxed, natural, and filled with so much happiness!
The ceremony took place on the hotel lawn, overlooking the Kennebunkport coast! Minka Floral Design created a beautiful arbor, and prepared extra rose petals for a special toss as the newly married couple walked back down the aisle! That petal toss and excitement of the group was a true highlight of the day!
Cocktails and Celebrations at The Colony Hotel
Guests transitioned to cocktail hour on The Colony’s wrap-around deck, as we did one last set of portraits before sending the couple to join the group! At this point in the day, we like to focus on guest candids, informal group photos, and capturing the reception decor before guests place their jackets and bags down at their tables! The ballroom was sprinkled in ginger jars, candlelight, and hand-painted place cards. It was a beautiful way to bring the coastal decor into the more ornate inside of The Colony Hotel.
To break out this Kennebunkport party, Beth and Keith entered into the reception space and went right into a choreographed first dance! The energy stayed high as the couple was toasted and officially opened up the dance floor!
