Kate and Nick’s wedding day at the Woodstock Inn & Resort was joyful and relaxed from start to finish! First of all, Kate and Nick are some of the nicest people you will ever meet! I had the pleasure of capturing both their rehearsal dinner and wedding day, so I got to spend a lot of time with the two of them and their families. Their focus was really on the experience of the day and enjoying their time with their family and friends, and that really shows in the photos!
Elegant Spring Vermont Wedding
One of the great things about the Woodstock Inn is having your family and friends all stay together at the Inn. It makes for a “destination wedding” feel in this quaint town in Vermont. Kate and Nick got ready separately at the Inn with their respective bridal parties. Kate’s bridal portraits, while she finished getting ready, were definitely a highlight of the day! She looked stunning in her classic a-line dress, and the bow gave it the nicest feminine detail. We then headed out to the front of the Inn for their first look.
A big benefit of getting married at the Woodstock Inn in the spring was that it was clear of people and furniture that would have been present in the busier months. Kate and Nick shared their first look in a private corner of the front lawn, and we captured some portraits of them there together before the rest of the group joined us. Kate and Nick’s family and friends had amazing energy all day. We felt that as soon as they joined us outside for wedding party photos! We lucked out with a sunny, warm spring day even though it was only April!

Green and White Color Palette for Woodstock Inn Wedding
Kate and Nick were married at the Our Lady of the Snows Church, across the street from the Inn. The florist, Birds of a Flower, used greenery and natural elements to decorate the doorway which added some great texture and depth to the outside of the church. It was the perfect backdrop for a final moment of Kate waiting with her dad to go into the church, as well as for their grand exit out of the church following their ceremony!
As guests made their way back to the Inn for cocktail hour, Kate, Nick, and the photo team took the short walk to the Middle Covered Bridge, a must-have photo in downtown Woodstock, for a final set of “just married” photos of the two of them! We brought along some champagne, of course!
The reception space itself was stunning! Birds of a Flower incorporated an installation of hanging greenery and candle-lit orbs above the head table. In classic Vermont style, guest tables were adorned with various Simon Pearce hurricanes and taper candlestick holders, along with garlands of greenery and florals throughout. Kate and Nick shared a first dance, followed by dinner and toasts made by immediate family members before the band kicked off parent dances and the rest of the celebrations!
Kate had planned the day beautifully, but was completely relaxed and trusting with my guidance as the day unfolded. As a result, we captured some really incredible moments of them and their closest family and friends throughout the day. I could not be more honored to capture Katie and Nick’s wedding day!
