Kate and Nick were married at the Woodstock Inn & Resort! With most guests traveling to Woodstock, Vermont for the weekend, their rehearsal dinner also took place in the area. They hired us to capture the evening, starting with pre-rehearsal dinner portraits outside of their wedding venue in Woodstock, and ending with dinner and toasts at the Harpoon Brewery in Windsor!
A Spring Rehearsal Dinner in Woodstock, VT
Before leaving for the rehearsal dinner, Kate and Nick joined me for a mini-portrait session in downtown Woodstock, Vermont. Aside from being their wedding venue, the Inn itself is a classic symbol of Woodstock. We started there before crossing the street to Our Lady of the Snows Church, where they would officially be wed the following day!
Kate and Nick rehearsed with their families and wedding party at the church in Woodstock, and then we all traveled to the Harpoon Brewery in Bristol for the rehearsal dinner! The location felt incredibly fitting for a Vermont wedding. Close family and friends all mingled at cocktail hour, before being seated for dinner and toasts. The rehearsal dinner eventually concluded and other guests arrived to the brewery for the official weekend welcome party!
The Importance of Rehearsal Dinner Photos
Rehearsal dinner photo coverage is one of the best ways to familiarize your group with the photo experience for wedding day! Rehearsal dinner coverage is a great way for you as a couple to warm back up to photos (sometimes it’s been a year or more since our engagement session!). It’s also an incredible opportunity for family and friends to see the photo team in action! When we’re present at the rehearsal dinner, we find that parents and guests are much more comfortable with photos at the wedding. By including us at the rehearsal dinner, they already have an understanding of the calm and unobtrusive, yet guiding approach that we take when photographing couples and their guests. That extra bit of coverage makes us a familiar, comfortable presence, and photo nerves ease! It’s a win-win!
We also love that rehearsal dinner coverage allows us to capture all of the initial excitement for your wedding weekend! While the wedding may be the biggest event of the weekend, all of your initial “so good to see you” happy hugs happen at your pre-wedding events! There’s a level of excited anticipation in the air, and that really comes through in the photos!
